Our Story

Lee started his journey and found his love for Chinese medicine after being diagnosed with a chronic illness. Health issues began as a child and continued into adulthood. He suffered daily with digestive problems, fatigue, joint pain, anxiety, headaches, low appetite and insomnia. Lee began looking into the roots of his dis-ease, not just the individual symptoms to correct his health.

"As a child I knew something wasn't right with my health. Too much of my mind and body weren't working right. I tried changing my diet and lifestyle, started practicing qigong and investigating the root cause of my 'disease'. Once I discovered Chinese medicine and treated the root of my illness, my health returned."

After studying with different teachers and aspects of Daoist practice and medicine, Lee opened New Hope OM in 2016 and has evolved into a holistic Chinese medical practice. We proudly serve the surrounding Triad area of North Carolina by helping clients reach their health goals.

Where did he study?
Lee received his Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) degree from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, North Carolina in 2016. He was certified a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl. OM) by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and was certified a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) by the North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Board (NCALB).

What did he study?
Thousands of hours of in-class education including the Five Channel systems of Classical Chinese Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Korean and Japanese styles and Five Element (Worsley) schools Chinese medicine and acupuncture. His studies included Chinese herbs, formulas and modifications, patent herbal medicines and external herbal preparations, essential oils, guasha, qigong, mindfulness meditations, and tuina massage. This education was also included 2 years of treating clients with clinical supervision under a group of licensed acupuncturists.

Does New hope OM submit insurance claims?
The short answer is no, we do not file insurance claims for our clients. Generally, however, acupuncture is covered by most health insurance providers for many conditions. Patients are encouraged to fill out the insurance section of their Patient Portal and speak with their insurance provider to determine if acupuncture is covered. You will be offered a Superbill at the end of the treatment of your visit including all procedure and diagnosis codes used to file.
