Qigong, pronounced chee-gong, is a form of exercise, usually with soft movements, incorporated with breathing techniques. One type of the many types is known as Medical qigong and is focused on illness. The exercises are designed to regulate physiologic processes to alleviating illness and improving health. Some exercises have been developed to move and stretch the body and massage the internal organs. Other exercises have no movement, breathing and focus of the mind are the keys to success. These therapies can empower our clients to initiate and maintain their own wellbeing. Exercises can also be modified for everyone, no matter their age or infirmity. When practicing medical qigong, the same principles and strategies used in acupuncture and herbal medicine are all used creating a synergism of the combined therapies. As with other therapies, sometimes results are immediate and with other maladies progress over time.
